You’re probably here because you’re contemplating hiring me. I’ve been doing “computer stuff” in earnest since I was seven years old… a lot of it isn’t relevant to my professional situation anymore and has no place on my resume, but since I consider myself well-rounded I decided to make this page to attempt to reflect my breadth of experience. I’m kind of like the Boomerang in “Zelda: Link’s Awakening”… you can win the game without me but it’s a hell of a lot more fun if you have me in your inventory since I cover a lot of ground ;-).
This list is a continuous work in progress as I knock random things loose that I forgot about and document them here.
Some of this stuff is old and out-of-fashion. Please don’t judge.
Personal Projects
- Administered a series of phpBB forums on shared hosting plans with extensive mods
- Purchased 8 used Thinkpads (T and X series), refurbished them (new batteries, memory, thermal paste, cleaning, touchpad/screen swaps, etc), and installed Fedora, Arch, Gentoo, and Mint on them
- Assembled 6 desktop gaming computers with discrete GPUs
- Administered cPanel-based shared hosting sites and web mail facilities
- Built out and maintained Counter-Strike 1.6 and Source servers from scratch with mods (i.e. via SSH)
- Ran a self-hosted email (Postfix, Sendmail, Dovecot, Horde, Roundcube) and web (Apache, nginx) server for personal purposes
- Created a small home lab with a pfSense firewall/router configured for multiple 802.11q VLANs and a SAN (using mdraid on CentOS) built from old drives

- Implemented a compiler for a toy subset of Ruby targeting the Lua virtual machine
- Built a Firefox extension that stores and categorizes bookmarks with a SQL back-end
- Implemented recursive descent and LR(1) parsers for context-free grammars

- Implemented a hashtable in x86 assembly
- Created a Bash-like Linux shell with forking capability in C
- Built a fully-functional multi-threaded DC Metro simulator in Ruby
Restaurant Work
- Programmed BevoPOS and Aloha point-of-sale systems
- Build web sites using Frontpage, Microsoft Expression Web, and Wordpress
- Overhauled various hackneyed networking solutions involving consumer-grade wireless routers NATed into each other using Ubiquiti firewalls and 802.1q-capable switches
- Ran mail server (Exchange) and web servers (IIS) with AD environment and CIFS/SMB file sharing

- Worked helpdesk at all tiers and did everything from shuffling hardware around to debugging esoteric DLL issues with proprietary applications
- Custom bootable solutions for Ghost, Symantec Endpoint Encryption fka GuardianEdge (? full name), data recovery via WinPE and Linux
- Built a candidate sourcing database with full-text resume indexing, tagging capabilities, and an OCR workflow
- Created an HR workflow application for onboarding and offboarding employees with a user-configurable notification engine
- Configured Google Search Appliance by implementing an Active Directory SAML SSO solution and writing XSLTs to transform search results into branded XHTML pages

- Consolidated three unmainted Sharepoint environments
- Rebuilt forty user laptops with a standard software loadout
- Implement a comprehensive security standard via Group Policy for all domain machines and servers
- Implemented automatic software updates via Ninite
- Built and rebuilt ESXi host machines, a vSphere environment, and custom iSCSI SAN (scst)

- Implement high-availability Hashicorp Vault instance with KMS auto-unsealing, Kubernetes pod injection with k8s control plane auth, and developer self-service for database passwords
